نبذة عن الفنان About the Artist
وُلد في ريف حلب عام ١٩٢٢، ويُعد من أبرز رواد الحداثة السورية. تميّزت تجربته بلغة بصرية ذات حسّ رمزي ووجودي، واشتغلت على موضوعات مثل المسؤولية المدنية، والقرابة، والحرمان الاجتماعي، والتحول الريفي، والذاكرة الشخصية والجماعية. Born in the Aleppo countryside in 1922, he is considered one of the most prominent pioneers of Syrian modernity. His experience was distinguished by a visual language with a symbolic and existential sensibility, engaging with themes such as civic responsibility, kinship, social deprivation, rural transformation, and personal and collective memory.
من أعماله المعروفة «Still Life» (١٩٦٢)، إلى جانب عدد كبير من اللوحات التي رسّخت مكانته كأحد أهم وجوه الفن السوري الحديث، ولا تزال أعماله تُدرَّس وتُعرَض في المتاحف والمعارض الدولية. Among his known works is "Still Life" (1962), alongside a large number of paintings that established his standing as one of the most important figures in modern Syrian art. His works continue to be studied and exhibited in international museums and galleries.
