الفنان نوري اسكندر Artist Nouri Iskandar

موسيقار وملحن وباحث سوري سرياني Syrian Syriac Musician, Composer & Researcher

وُلد في دير الزور لعائلة سريانية تعود أصولها إلى مدينة الرها، واستقر لاحقاً في حلب حيث انطلقت مسيرته الفنية. حاصل على ليسانس من المعهد العالي للتربية الموسيقية في القاهرة عام ١٩٦٤، وأمضى نحو أربعين عاماً في التدوين والبحث والتأليف الموسيقي. Born in Deir ez-Zor to a Syriac family with roots in the city of Urfa, he later settled in Aleppo where his artistic career began. He holds a degree from the Higher Institute of Music Education in Cairo in 1964, and spent nearly forty years in musical notation, research and composition.

صبّ جُلّ اهتمامه على الموسيقى السريانية بشقّيها الديني والمديني، وعمل على توثيقها واشتق من مقاماتها الفريدة العديد من ألحانه. اكتشف خلال مشروعه التوثيقي نحو ٩٠٠ لحن سرياني، وأفرز عمله الدؤوب ألبومات بارزة من بينها «كونشيرتو العود» و«الثلاثي الوتري». He devoted most of his attention to Syriac music in both its religious and secular forms, working to document it and deriving many of his melodies from its unique maqamat. His documentation project uncovered around 900 Syriac melodies, producing notable albums including "Oud Concerto" and "String Trio."

شغل منصب مدير المعهد العربي للموسيقى في حلب بين عامَي ١٩٩٤ و٢٠٠٣، وترك إرثاً موسيقياً وأكاديمياً غنياً يُعدّ مرجعاً أساسياً لدارسي التراث الموسيقي السرياني والشرقي. He served as director of the Arab Music Institute in Aleppo between 1994 and 2003, leaving a rich musical and academic legacy that is considered an essential reference for students of Syriac and Eastern musical heritage.
